The Tirpitz, sister ship of the legendary Bismarck, was the largest battleship ever launched for the German Navy. After the commissioning in February 1941, the Tirpitz soon became a permanent threat for the Western Allies? Navy in the Northern Atlantic. History tells of many attempts to destroy this mighty weapon-loaded colossus. After the Tirpitz was heavily damaged by air attacks from the British Royal Air Force in September 1944, the ship was placed stationary at the Norwegian coast at Tromsö. Once again, the Tirpitz was the primary target for heavy attacks of the Royal Air Force. Then, on November 12. 1944, the Tirpitz was hit by special "Tallboy bombs", which caused the ship to roll over in the shallow water.

Shortly after WW II, a Norwegian specialized company began to explore the wreck and to obtain the high alloy steelfor further civil use. Scientists were very interested in this material as it was used in research and development of measurement technology and even in the astronautics industry. Especially for Boker, Norwegian divers have now retrieved parts of the special armor of the Tirpitz from the Fjord. These pieces of living history are being exclusively forged by our Damascus forger to an extraordinary Damascus Steel with an exciting background. The pattern "Great Pyramids", with more than 300 layers, adorns the mighty 4" blade and makes this piece the highlight of any collection. The combination of the Tirpitz steel and carbon tool steels also creates an extremely rugged Damascus Steelwhich has a hardness of 61 to 63 HRC and can handle any cutting task with ease. The handle, made of high strength AlMgSi1 Aluminum (with Silicium, making it a much higher quality than standard AlMg3), is hardcoat anodized and provides a firm and secure grip. The reversible clip allows for tip-up or tip-down carry. For the handle inlay we chose domestic walnut, which has a long history as shaft wood for German rifles due to its superior characteristics. This eye-catching inlay also features the original Tirpitz crest. This knife combines history, tradition and modern technology in a more than unique way. Comes complete in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and is serial numbered.

Specifications:

Steel: Damascus
Blade length: 3.897“ inch / 99 mm
Total length: 9.015” inch / 229 mm
Handle length: 5.118” inch / 130 mm
Handle scales: Aluminum / Walnut Wood

Blade thickness: 3.5 mm
Overall weight 167 gr.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0376/3247/5272/products/boeker-manufaktur-solingen-tirpitz-damast-110190dam.jpg?v=1612681227
boker-classic-western-bowie-n690-knife
Boker Classic Western Bowie N690 Knife

Böker Solingen Classic Western Bowie N690 Knife

- Made in Solingen / Germany -

Introduction:

The design of the traditional Boker Bowie was based on original drafts from the early 19th century and equipped with an extremely stable, 6.4 mm thick blade made from N690. Blades with a flat grind are used for a wide variety of knives, mainly kitchen knives, hunting knives and outdoor knives. This type of blade is flat-ground on both sides. Typically, a flat-ground blade tapers at a flat angle from the spine or just below all the way to the cutting edge of the blade. The cross-section of a flat-ground blade appears as V-shaped. Due to the high starting point of the grind, a flat-ground blade has a relatively thin top and center section compared to convex or hollow-ground blades. Like other grinds, the flat grind has several variations. They mainly differ in the higher or lower starting point of the grind. A full flat grind begins at the back of the blade on both sides and continues to the blade tip. Blades with a hollow flat grind have a lower starting point (first third of the blade length), while the grind of the so-called Scandi blades begins in the last third. In terms of cutting edge and stability, the flat grind offers a good compromise between the two other common grinds, hollow and convex. A flat-ground blade cuts better than a convex blade but not quite as well as the extremely sharp hollow grind. For most applications, this blade offers good cutting properties and provides the necessary stability for rougher cutting jobs. When it comes to cutting thinner materials, a hollow grind is superior to a flat-ground blade.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0376/3247/5272/products/boeker-manufaktur-solingen-foersternicker-hirschhorn-120517.jpg?v=1612616654
boker-mono-cpm-pocket-knife
Boker Mono CPM Pocket Knife

German Böker Stag Pocket Knife "Mono CPM"

Made in Solingen / Germany -

Introduction:

As familiar as it used to be, the single-blade Boker hunting pocket knife had been missing from our product range for a long time. No one can say today if anyone would have expected that the pocket knife would be one of the most successful and popular knives from our range. But these many years in short-lived fads, that are also not unusual on the knife market, is definitely special. While no other model has had as many versions as the Scout over the years, the basic specifications never changed. The extremely stable body is from a single piece of nickel silver which is produced by sintering. The dagger, also known as Baselard, was usually not issued as ordinance weapons, but had to be purchased privately by the soldiers and then served as a secondary weapon. Characteristic of the Swiss Dagger is the design of the pommel and the crossguard. The unusual, curved design can be traced back to the early 13th century and can also be found in the authentic design of our hand-made edition. Handpicked local cherry wood is used for the handles of the dagger, which has enjoyed great popularity since ancient times, especially because of its reddish color. The dagger blade, sharpened and pointed on both sides, already had a diamond-shaped cross-section in historical models, because this construction proved to be extremely stable and effective. It is made of the classic Carbon Steel C75 and impresses simply because of its length. The satin-finished blade is marked with the original Boker blade logo from the 1930s. The logo and the individual serial number guarantee the authenticity of the knife and stand for consistently high production quality. The dagger, also known as a baselard, usually served as a secondary weapon and was usually not issued as equipment, but had to be procured privately by the soldiers.

The extraordinary Twisted Damascus is now followed by the Mosaic Damascus, which is also very complex to manufacture. It is one of the royal class of Damascus forging and makes the impressive dagger an absolute highlight in every knife collection. In contrast to conventional Damascus, no layers are produced in the manufacture of Mosaic Damascus. Instead, complex Damascus bars are forged by hand into a mosaic in an elaborate and very complicated process. To do this, the Damascus package, which initially consists of stacked layers, is cut up and reassembled in a staggered manner to create a unique mosaic pattern at the end faces of the bar. The DAMASCUS is then cut up again and the complex process is repeated several times, the resulting pattern becoming finer and more unique with each step. Finally, the individual packages are stacked and forged in the shape of a square so that the ends of the individual pieces form a new surface. Forging temperature, forming, deformation rate and the previous steps must be optimally coordinated. This extremely demanding forging process, which only few DAMASCUS smiths master, is carried out to perfection for our Swiss dagger by Chad Nichols.

The dagger blade, sharpened and pointed on both sides, already had a diamond-shaped cross-section in historical models, because this construction proved to be extremely stable and effective. Characteristic of the Swiss Dagger is the design of the pommel and the crossguard. The unusual, curved design can be traced back to the early 13th century and can also be found in the authentic design of our hand-made edition. The shimmering dark handle made of hand-picked certified imported EBONY is bordered by the highly polished pommel and the crossguard and forms a perfect unit with the fine blade.

The leather sheath, specially designed and handsewn for this model, underlines the exclusivity of this coveted collector‘s item. They don't live a myth, they create it and leave behind a venerable legacy. In 1966, the foundation stone for another icon was laid in Detroit, Michigan. In the epicentre of the US automotive industry, numerous vehicles see the light of day. Many of them are ordinary cars, while others are exclusively chosen. The Chevrolet Camaro was originally designed as a so-called Pony Car, which was intended to appeal primarily to younger buyer groups. Compact, sporty and affordable - the coupé was the stalwart for the semi-strong. Success was not long in coming. From 1966 to 1969, approximately 700,000 Camaro models with 12 different engine variants rolled off the production line. In 1969, the last Camaro of the first generation, the Z28, was introduced. Connoisseurs consider this model to be one of the best of all series. A massive V8 small block engine with 216 kW (290 hp) and a Special Performance Package propelled the Camaro Z28 into the select league of muscle cars, sporty stripes on the body included. The motorsport DNA of the now coveted collector's item cannot be denied either. The engine used is a toned-down version of the successful and highly decorated Penske Camaro from the SCAA Trans AM racing series.

Boker quotes the design of the Camaro Z28 and revives the legend. The result is more than just a knife. An attitude to life, the dignified road trip with the bubbling sound of the V8 engine on the seemingly endless highway, gentle rays of sunlight streaking across the canyon and warming the soul. Unforgettable moments without everyday life - just like the extraordinary Boker 1969 Z28- Damascus. In collaboration with the Italian designer Tommaso Rumici, a unique "muscle knife" was created that combines the distinctive character traits of the Camaro Z28 in form and strength. The elegant Damascus drop-point blade, hand-forged by Chad Nichols with 80 layers in the “Tread” pattern, reminisces of the sloping cowl induction bonnet of the muscle car. For this purpose, parts of the upper A-arm from the Camaro were used for the blade, that opens smoothly with the blue thumb stud, while the biting stainless steel linerlock reliably locks the knife in place. Based on a colour analysis of an original model, the finely tuned lacquer finish in "Le Mans Blue" was created especially for Boker for the aluminium handle, which interprets the lines of the body in a nostalgic way and comes up with exciting details. The notchback, the small rear spoiler and the gill-like air intakes on the rear wings have been beautifully integrated into the knife. The blade axle screw is lovingly inspired by the rims often used on muscle cars, whereas the straight-lined stainless steel clip, milled from the solid, is reminiscent of the chrome-plated door handles. The renowned designer and full-time knifemaker from the USA bridges the gap between the historical roots of the tried-and-tested Barlow and the modern elements of his line design, which is referred to as Post Tactical, with this handy knife. The characteristic drop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th century, which certainly makes it one of the oldest models ever. The name of the classic probably goes back to an enterprising Sheffield knife manufacturer of the same name, who began exporting the robust knives to North America around 1800. There they immediately enjoyed great popularity and so the first Barlow models also appeared in the history of the Boker Manufaktur at the end of the 19th century.

In this fixed version, tradition, everyday utility and a touch of tactical finesse find a harmonious harmony. The compact Barlow BFF is made of ice hardened AEB-L, a versatile blade steel with excellent cutting capabilities, good rust resistance and easy resharpening. Designed as a fixed blade, this version of the timeless classic is equipped with contured handle scales made of local walnut wood and fits comfortably in the hand. The collector's knife with a historical past is a real piece of living history and combines high-quality craftsmanship with authentic materials. Known worldwide as the Tiger, the Panzerkampfwagen VI was used by the Wehrmacht from the late summer of 1942. It is considered one of the most famous tanks in history, despite its modest production number of only 1350 units and the resulting low strategic importance. The development of the heavy tank can be traced back to 1937, and series production began in August 1942. Today, there are only seven preserved units, which are exhibited all over the world. Due to the low availability, the so-called Frankentiger was even assembled for this purpose from wreckage parts of different production years.

The tank parts we use come from a Tiger I of the Schwere Panzerabteilung 502, which was destroyed in combat in Latvia in the summer of 1944 in a heavily wooded area near the town of Bauska. Based on the wreckage found at the original excavation site, it was determined that this Tiger was an early to mid-production model. Examination of battle damage to the remains, military records and local historical accounts revealed that this Tiger tank collided with both a Russian T-34 medium tank and an SU-76 anti-tank gun, and was also damaged by a stationary 45-mm anti-tank gun. It is still unclear which of the impacts caused the most damage and sealed the fate of the Tiger. However, as several 76-mm fragments were lodged in the heavy armour, it is assumed that a nearby T-34 landed the decisive hits before it was destroyed 300 metres away, too.

Otto Carius and Albert Kerscher, two of the most successful tank commanders of the Second World War, were attempting to stop the advance of Soviet forces on Riga at the time, with the Schwere Panzerabteilung 502. The division was able to so devastatingly defeat the enemy blockade forces near Tukums that it was able to retreat to the Latvian Courland together with more than 500,000 other soldiers of the Heeresgruppe Nord. There the forces were encircled in the further course of the Soviet advance. The Kurland Cauldron served as a bridgehead and could be supplied by the Kriegsmarine via sea. It withstood six major attacks by Soviet forces until the unconditional surrender on 8 May, 1945.

The straight-edged Boker Tiger-Damascus is equipped with a unique Damascus blade made from the steelof the battle tank destroyed at Bauska. The MG-42 is one of the internationally renowned milestones in weapons technology, thanks above all to its revolutionary production technology at the time with the consistent use of stamped sheet metal parts, exceptional reliability and ease of use, and a cadence that was previously unknown.

Raw materials and production time had increasingly become critical and decisive factors in the course of the war. Therefore, the Army Ordnance Office was looking for a successor to the MG-34, which was already convincing in its function, but took up too much time and material due to its complex production. The new MG was also to serve as a standardised weapon for light, anti-aircraft, airborne and aperture purposes. Since the central task was not to improve the product but to optimise the manufacturing process, a proven specialist in mass production rather than a weapons expert was commissioned with the new design. The choice fell on Werner Gruner, a mechanical engineer at the Johannes Großfuß metal and lacquerware factory. Gruner was presumably assisted in the development by experienced gun designers. The consistent use of sheet metal stampings instead of milled parts and the omission of accurateness in non-functional details made it possible to build a weapon that was even more reliable than its predecessor, while significantly reducing production time and costs. Almost trouble-free function and firing accuracy in all weather conditions, the change of hot-shot barrels within seconds and a cadence of 1,500 rounds per minute (25 rounds/second) established the MG-42's reputation. A brake in the form of additional mass in the breech cavity made it possible to reduce the immense cadence to 700 rounds/minute and thus the ammunition consumption. A roller shutter controlled by a cam made these impressive technical characteristics possible. In a slightly modified form, the MG-42 is still the standard MG of the German armed forces today as MG 3. Rare originals from the Second World War fetch between USD 40,000 and USD 60,000 at Rock Island Auctions.

The steel of the MG-42 is forged by our long-time and experienced partner Chad Nicols into the heart of the dagger, the double-edged blade with a discreet hollow groove on both sides. The chosen Damascus pattern, Low Layer Raindrop (40 layers) is excellently accentuated by the symmetrical profile of the blade.

The dagger's toggle and pommel are made of solid stainless steel. In the pommel, the cooling fins and gas outlets of the recoil amplifier (actually a combined component with the functions of a recoil amplifier, a flash hider and a barrel guide sleeve) were incorporated as a design element. Nevertheless, form followed function here as well, for the grooves increase the grip of the dagger in the reverse grip. The toggle and pommel joinlessly hold the barrel-shaped roll of hornbeam wood, which is automatically centred in the hand by its shape. The knee-joint lock with short barrel return, developed by Georg Luger, made the pistol 08 incredibly compact and solid. As early as 1914, the weapon was used in the armies of Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Portugal and Turkey and was considered a much sought-after prey weapon until the end of the Second World War. The production of the compact pistol required 14 kilogrammes of Steel and its design required such a high degree of precision that completely new demands were made on the production technology. The 8.8 cm Flak (short for anti-aircraft gun) is considered by many connoisseurs to be the best and undisputedly most versatile gun of the Second World War. Originally developed for anti-aircraft defence, the Eight-Eight (8-8) established its legendary reputation above all in ground combat.

While anti-tank guns with 3.7 cm to a maximum of 7.5 cm were notoriously under-calibrated for the contemporary armour, anti-aircraft guns regularly had relatively large barrel diameters. It quickly became apparent that only the eight-eight was capable of reliably penetrating the armour of the heavy British Matilda II tank or the Soviet T-34, for example, and above all at greater distances of up to 2,000 metres. The pre-requisite for this was that the barrel of the 8.8 cm anti-aircraft gun could be swivelled to a negative angle of inclination - absolutely untypical for an anti-aircraft gun. This made it possible to lower the barrel below the horizontal plane in order to engage ground targets. The gun could also be swivelled 360° around its vertical axis on a column mount with four cross-shaped outriggers. Another advantage of the eight-eight (8-8) was its speed. On the one hand, this resulted from the short time in which the cross mount could be mounted and dismounted, and the gun could therefore be moved. Another was the high rate of fire. As a semi-automatic cannon with a decelerated barrel recoil, the breech was opened after each shot, the percussion piece cocked, and the empty cartridge ejected. A well-trained operating crew, usually consisting of 9 soldiers, could fire up to 20 rounds per minute. As a result, the German anti-aircraft soldiers were able to shoot down 9 out of 1,000 incoming aircraft.

This figure seems soberingly small, but it is still considered to be the highest firing rate of an anti-aircraft gun in the history of war. The 8.8 cm anti-aircraft gun also played a significant role in the legendary reputation of another weapon of the Second World War, which Boker has already used in a Damascus collector's knife. As the main armament, it was installed in the turret of the VI tank, better known as the Tiger. Proven through this use, it later also became the gun of the Nashorn (Rhino) tank destroyer.

The Eight-Eight (8-8) Flak Damascus project has been realised as a fulyl-fledged dagger with a medieval look. The centrepiece is the slender but massive 18.1 cm long blade forged from parts of the 8.8 cm Flak. The handle scroll is turned from a piece of domestically stabilised hornbeam with 16 jimpings. On closer inspection, the radii and proportions of the 5 mm thick stainless steel parrying piece discreetly form the outline of the cross-guard with side extensions folded up for transport. Before long, the endlessness gives way to a feeling of freedom, the sunset bathing the landscape and your spirit in a warming blanket of bliss and gentle wind. The deep sound of the powerful Windsor V8 Small Block engine with 186 kW (253 hp) has a calming effect, making the road trip in the Ford Mustang a very special moment.

Inspired by the World War II fighter plane, the P-51 Mustang, Ford developed the Mustang in the early 1960s, which was launched in 1964. As a compact sports coupé, the affordable pony car, whose name derives from the galloping horse in the Ford Mustang's radiator grille logo, appealed primarily to a younger clientele. To counter the high-powered competition from Dodge, Pontiac, and Chevrolet, Ford made a statement in the league of powerful muscle cars with the Mustang Mach-1. The first-generation Mach-1 from 1969 was available exclusively as a fastback variant and differed from the production model in both appearance and performance: A sports suspension, matte black sports stripes, and a hood with cooling air intake, chrome exhaust tips and fuel cap, hood pins, front and rear spoilers, and a luxurious interior gave more than 72,000 units of this model a real boost in sales.

Over the years, the Mustang has become the epitome of the muscle car and is now continuing its legacy in its 7th generation. Boker references the vehicle's unmistakable design and makes the legend even more tangible in the 1969 Mach-1 Damascus knife of the same name. Parts from the wheel hub, wishbone, and suspension were used for the elegant 84-layer Damascus blade, which was hand-forged by Chad Nichols in a wave pool pattern inspired by the tire marks burned into the asphalt after a circular donut drift. The ball-bearing blade with its distinctive false edge opens smoothly via the removable thumb pin and cuts with rich torque. To prevent the passionate knife from getting out of hand, the liner lock locks the blade with the familiar coolness of a Ford Mustang. Finger recesses in the handle made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum are reminiscent of the fenders of the muscle car, while the gold-colored inlay of the front handle shell ties in with the side trim of the door and body.

The expressive Silver Jade color scheme of the handle emphasizes the sporty look of the pocket knife and creates a noticeable V8 vibration in the hand. The sloping back of the handle is nostalgically inspired by the fastback contour of the car body, while the detailed blade screw makes the forward thrust of the wheels palpable. Only two years later, the now world-famous AK-47 was officially put into service as the "7.62 mm Awtomat Kalasshnikova obraztsa 1947". Even then, the simple and reliable design as a gas pressure loader with a rotary head breech, the consistent use of sheet metal stampings that could be produced quickly and inexpensively, and the adherence to a cartridge class introduced by the Wehrmacht with the StG 44 with an average performance between submachine gun and rifle ammunition were trend-setting to this day. These features resulted in the Kalashnikov system being the most widely built and replicated handgun in history, with an estimated 100 million made worldwide today.

Introduced in 1959 along with the AKM, the revised variant of the AK-47, the bayonet was no less revolutionary and formative for later designs than the famous assault rifle itself. The concept was based on a knife originally developed by R. Todorov for combat swimmers. It marked a move away from long bayonets, which were used purely as stabbing weapons, to a short, mountable utility knife with insulated wire shears and a multifunctional back saw.

Mikhail Kalashnikov personally visited the Boker Manufactory in Solingen in 2002 and officially introduced the Boker Kalashnikov line of knives to the public. More than 70 years after the AK-47 entered service, we now present a truly exceptional special edition model of the knife line and once again honour his brilliant engineering achievement. The Boker Kalashnikov Bayonet Damscus is equipped with a unique Damascus blade made from the steel of the 6Ch3 and 6Ch4 bayonets according to the GRAU index of the former Soviet Army and decorated with the signature of General Kalashnikov. To this day, no larger battleship has ever been built in Europe. Eighty years later, Boker presents the Tirpitz-Damast Gold Special Edition as a tribute to remembrance—honoring a continent that endured two World Wars and has lived in peace and freedom since 1945. In memory of the countless victims of these conflicts, and especially the crew of the Tirpitz, €10 from each knife sold is donated to the War Graves Commission. The Tirpitz itself was sunk in 1944 off the coast of Norway. Following the end of the Second World War, a Norwegian salvage company recovered parts of the wreck to repurpose its highly alloyed steel for civilian use. The AK1 he designed is equipped for the first time with a short reverse tanto blade made of powder metallurgical CPM MagnaCut (61-62 HRC), a high-performance steel that combines high corrosion resistance with excellent edge retention.

The ergonomically shaped and hand-flattering handle scales are made of Ultem, a high-performance thermoplastic with a breathtaking, semi-transparent amber look. They can be easily dismantled using the torx-key supplied and can be replaced by a wide range of alternative scales developed and produced together with Daily Customs. In addition, the intricately manufactured lanyard hole at the end of the handle can be turned around when the handle scales are dismantled so that it disappears into the handle. It is made of MagnaCut, just like the complete full tang, with minimal manufacturing tolerances. This means that the knife can be adapted to your own requirements in the shortest possible time and modified according to the situation.

Supplied with a high-quality black leather sheath, which is provided with a sewn-in ulticlip and can be easily attached to the pocket hem thanks to the locking spring clip.
