Introduction:

On April 1, 1939, the battleship Tirpitz, named after Fleet Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, was christened and launched in Wilhelmshaven. To this day, no larger battleship has ever been built in Europe. Eighty years later, Boker presents the Tirpitz-Damast Gold Special Edition as a tribute to remembrance—honoring a continent that endured two World Wars and has lived in peace and freedom since 1945. In memory of the countless victims of these conflicts, and especially the crew of the Tirpitz, €10 from each knife sold is donated to the War Graves Commission. The Tirpitz itself was sunk in 1944 off the coast of Norway. Following the end of the Second World War, a Norwegian salvage company recovered parts of the wreck to repurpose its highly alloyed steel for civilian use. Boker was granted access to selected sections of the ship’s original armor. These authentic fragments of history were entrusted to Boker’s DAMASCUS specialist, who forged them into an extraordinary steel with a story unlike any other. At first glance, the Boker Tirpitz-Damast Gold captivates with its incomparable Damascus blade, exclusively gold-plated for this special edition. The blade consists of 300 layers of hand-forged Tirpitz Damascus in the striking “Great Pyramid” pattern, with the subtle golden sheen lending exceptional depth and brilliance. All key components—including the thumb stud, blade and handle screws, spacers, liners, pocket clip, and replacement clip plate—are likewise gold-plated, creating a harmonious and luxurious appearance. The blade is secured by a 1.5 mm thick liner lock, ensuring reliable operation. A reversible pocket clip allows for both tip-up and tip-down carry. The handle inlay is crafted from locally sourced walnut wood and features the original Tirpitz coat of arms and name, adding a dignified historical accent. Each knife in this limited special edition represents an elegant fusion of history, remembrance, and modern craftsmanship. Completely handcrafted in the Boker Manufactory in Solingen, the knife is delivered in a premium frame display case, complete with an individual serial number and a certificate of authenticity.

Introduction:

A piece of history comes to life! The Tirpitz, sister ship of the legendary Bismarck, was the largest battleship ever launched for the German Navy. After the commissioning in February 1941, the Tirpitz soon became a permanent threat for the Western Allies? Navy in the Northern Atlantic. History tells of many attempts to destroy this mighty weapon-loaded colossus. After the Tirpitz was heavily damaged by air attacks from the British Royal Air Force in September 1944, the ship was placed stationary at the Norwegian coast at Tromsö. Once again, the Tirpitz was the primary target for heavy attacks of the Royal Air Force. Then, on November 12. 1944, the Tirpitz was hit by special "Tallboy bombs", which caused the ship to roll over in the shallow water.

Shortly after WW II, a Norwegian specialized company began to explore the wreck and to obtain the high alloy steelfor further civil use. Scientists were very interested in this material as it was used in research and development of measurement technology and even in the astronautics industry. Especially for Boker, Norwegian divers have now retrieved parts of the special armor of the Tirpitz from the Fjord. These pieces of living history are being exclusively forged by our Damascus forger to an extraordinary Damascus Steel with an exciting background. The pattern "Great Pyramids", with more than 300 layers, adorns the mighty 4" blade and makes this piece the highlight of any collection. The combination of the Tirpitz steel and carbon tool steels also creates an extremely rugged Damascus Steelwhich has a hardness of 61 to 63 HRC and can handle any cutting task with ease. The handle, made of high strength AlMgSi1 Aluminum (with Silicium, making it a much higher quality than standard AlMg3), is hardcoat anodized and provides a firm and secure grip. The reversible clip allows for tip-up or tip-down carry. For the handle inlay we chose domestic walnut, which has a long history as shaft wood for German rifles due to its superior characteristics. This eye-catching inlay also features the original Tirpitz crest. This knife combines history, tradition and modern technology in a more than unique way. Comes complete in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and is serial numbered.

Introduction:

The huge interest in our extraordinary collector's knife, the Boker Tirpitz Damascus, has convinced us to design another model featuring this historic damask steel. The Boker Tirpitz Damascus Wood is much flatter, with a thickness of around 10 millimeters, and has a much more elegant design thanks to its continuous scales made of local walnut wood. The matte wood of the contoured handle scales is milled three-dimensionally using CNC technology, and the front proudly displays the Tirpitz coat of arms and lettering.

The sister ship of the legendary Bismarck was the largest battleship ever launched for the German navy. Immediately after the end of World War II, a Norwegian specialist company began salvaging the ship, which had sunk off the Norwegian coast, in order to make the high-alloy steel available for civilian purposes.

Norwegian divers recovered parts of the Tirpitz's special armor from the fjord for Böker. From these pieces of living history, the Böker damask smith exclusively forges an extraordinary damask with a fascinating history. The large pyramid pattern in 300 layers characterizes the powerful blade made of hand-forged Damascus steel and makes the knife a highlight of any knife collection.

The combination of Tirpitz steel with carbon tool steels also results in an extremely durable Damascus steel with a Rockwell hardness of 61 to 63 HRC, which is up to any task in everyday use. The blade is locked in place by a 1.5 mm thick liner lock and opened using the removable thumb stud. With clip (tip-up). The knife is delivered in a high-quality transparent frame box with certificate and serial number.
